I've now joined Twitter three times and each time after about thirty minutes of sitting there wondering why I'm even bothering I then delete my account. The thing is it can stay active for six months after deletion - why would anyone set up a system where you had a six month breathing space in which to decide whether or not you wanted to pursue something. I hate it when it is so easy to rejoin something and guess what - I'm now signing up for a fourth time.
Of course the name frenchfancy was taken so I've become fondanticing. The thing is that I then tried combinations of all sorts of names just out of interest. I tried hobnobs are lovely/ bird outside window/ black boots ...and they were all taken as well. Do you think that someone early on registered nearly every permutation of good sounding name and now all that's left are the reject names or the name you wanted but with an underscore around it?
Okay fellow bloggers who are also tweeters - if you'd like to help out fondanticing she would be very grateful (I actually hate fondant icing - it's too sickly). Oh - and for anyone wondering why on earth I am bothering with this ridiculous thing - I wonder myself.

Yay - am following you!!! I agree it does seem all rather strange at the beginning, but the best thing to do is to follow a whole load of people (other bloggers the best bet probably) and then just join a conversation. Better to do that than just send out random tweets which make you feel all silly. Find a blogger you know, go through their list to find people that you also know and then, bob's your uncle. Good luck - I'll be watching you!! xxx
I just did a search on Twitter for "fondanticing" and it said it couldn't find anyone with that name.
Bill - I had the same problem. 'Find people' is always a bit random. What you do is put in www.twitter.com/fondanticing and then the page comes up...
I deleted my Twitter account months ago. It was just keeping me away from my writing, reading and kids. But I applaud all those who can keep up with it. Fondanticing is a good name. Kids love fondant! The child in each of us will respond positively.
Maternal Tales - Thanks, that worked just fine.
My dear, the broadcaster John Humphrys sums up the tweeter so well as follows: "it is boring. Deeply, mind-numbingly, soul-scarringly, eye-gougingly boring. And utterly pointless too".
I registered ages ago, twittered a bit then wandered off and forgot all about it.
It's a very odd phenomenon.
The only tweeter I can be bothered reading is 'Shitmydadsays' and I've stuck it on my blog sidebar so I don't have to keep going to the site. It doesn't seem to require me to join in with conversations about ...erm shoes - call me lazy but I like that about it.
I also joined Twitter to see what was on it, but now I can't remember my twitter name.
I just wish Twitter didn't remind me of Stephen Fry so much !
Not one for me. I have enough trouble keeping up with emails. My mobile phone rarely gets turned on either. I suppose I have my outlets for expression but also value my privacy and get annoyed by a mobile throbbing or buzzing - all the time. The sensation is rather nice though. Shocking Mr Lowe, shocking!lol
I'm very ambivalent about Twitter too though have been on there about a year now. Cynically I find it handy for advertizing my latest blog posts... a bit of self marketing. Tried to find you on Twitter to follow you but it's saying you don't exist! My twitter name is Pocketropolis if you can find me!
I've considered Twitter, but just haven't done it. I'll be watching to see how you like it. Keep us posted!
I'm am not a twitterer, although i'm sure many would beg to differ. I say don't bother, just blog, but then I just want all the attention to stay here. And then what's the betting I'm eating my words and twittering with the best of them any time soon. You see I can twitter on and on and....
I struggle to find time for my blog. No time for facebook and twitter. You are a glutton for punishment!
I've doe the same thing! But when I go to rejoin, I can't remember my name or password so I make another one and another! No wonder there are so many names already taken!
Am having a go on Twitter but don't feel I've got the knack as yet. Feel a bit of an idiot saying e.g. 'am cleaning the house for a tea party'.
Thanks vm for visiting one of my secondary blogs, FF, but the main one is 'Susie Vereker - writer' where I rave on about books I've read, gardens, etc.
Brave girl! I can't bring myself to tweet. Too many balls in the air already :)
I am going to do a post about tweeting and the like - so you can read what I think soon!
Thanks for all your kind comments - blogging every day is getting hard, especially as I am determined not to 'cheat' and post picture or short words because that is not what I usually write. I think I might crack though!
MT - aw thank you for following me and letting me use you to practice. As for sending out silly tweets - I'm game for it.
Bill - likewise to you, you can be one of my practice buddies whilst you are waiting for your glue to dry. Hope you find a kindred spirit tweeter who works with wood
Angie - so it must have been good if you were doing it too much!
ASD - hello sweetie - letter on the way. What Humphreys said could apply to Facebook and blogging equally and I love both of those, so I reckon I'll also enjoy tweeting
Lane - it is odd but perfect for a nosy soul like me
Lulu - I couldn't remember my name so asked them to remind me - they did as well. That tweeter you mentioned is also followed by the Killers - and now by me
Jen - I do sometimes look at SF's tweets - I can never decide if he is a hero or not
Phil - my very low-tech mobile hardly goes - I only use it to stay in touch with Mr FF when he is in the UK (like today)
Steve - have found you and am now a follower
willow - 12 hours in and I'm still enjoying it
Reasons - it does look highly addictive which is the main reason I kept deleting (and then reactivating) my account
cheshire wife - ah, but I don't have a full time profession like you, you see. Once - when I had my demanding London job, stuff like this would have been out of the question
Suburbia - it's such fun, please come back
Susie - oops, will try your other blog next - in the meantime please look for me on Twitter
ContemTroub - maybe one day you'll do it
Mark -you've done very well so far. They've all been interesting and blog-worthy (imo anyway - don't mean to sound arrogant).
Ooooh you're on twitter? Me too. I'm to look for you. x
Oh and please visit my Chez Aspie blog tomorrow as I've got a great book to give away.
Yes, it's me, my friend. I am in SF trying to get the hang of twittering, get my blog up and running again and catch up with my mates :-). speak soon, hope all's well your end, K.
I think I identify a little with A Super Dillettante regarding Twitter. To be fair, I haven't followed or participated in any way therefore my opinion is worthless. I FEEL however that I ought not to venture to closely for fear of being sucked in. I struggle with what I already subscribe to.
Yes, FF...I think being a Wonder Woman obviates the need for a fondanticing topping.
Oh! I think I missed an 'O'.
Tweet-tweet! Someone took my name and now she's not using it. Hrrumph! So you can find me on Twitter as TheRealLadyFi! ;-)
Ha! I love it. I am woefully behind when it comes to these things so have not joined Twitter but I must admit I do feel a bit left out. May just have to join up and become a follower of you, Ms. Fondant.
Hi FF ... I've just found your blogsite, which I think is great.
I don't think I'll bother with Twitter ... I can't see why it appeals to anyone, except twits. :)
I think I give up when asked to find a name....must be something psychologically repugnant to me to have to identify myself in any way!
Sweet on top?........no that would get far too many loonies!!!
Oh, how I LOVED this..I found you through Mr. Toast....my favorite.
I too have started and stopped Twitter...and wonder...why?
I have to say you dogs are adorable...I have a red toy poodle..14 and blind..named Butterscotch..we call him Buddy..
I love your writing and will be following along....
More later,
kary
Denyse - it's good buddying up with fellow bloggers on other mediums.
Kathy - we're fine and I'm glad you are back in the online world
Ken - go on, give it a whirl - any excuse to spend longer with your lovely new machine
Fi - I hate it when that happens - I think French Fancy on Twitter did the same
Justin - I bet you said that about blogs in the beginning - go on, give it a try
fitw - oh go on, if I'm there I want all my bloggy friends there too
Blu - no I meant I actually hate the taste of fondant icing, the name is ok :)
MFK - hello to you and welcome welcome welcome. Off to find out about you and your lovely dog
Laura - oh yes, go on
I hate twitter too, have quit once[twice?], went back , tweeted [yes-I hate those little names too]a few and then haven''t been back...as for names, nobody ever is going to use a name with "vulture" in it, right ?*grins*
I like your name but not the icing .. you could try your original with "er" added or such like...often that will work or try to spell it in olde english :)
I meant to say - can we see some your drawing doodles - I have a collection of these too. I will put some on my other blog.
I keep forgetting about Twitter but I shall sign in now and start following you....just give me a poke every now and then and remind me it's there will you!!
C x
So glad you stopped by MFK....
Yes ! The Old Mission San Luis Obispo..Takes me about 5 minutes to walk there from here...
I'll be back later...
Kary and Buddy
Mark - they are not very exciting. Mostly circles or squares which are then coloured in.
Carol - with all the balls you are balancing in the air I think twitter is one you can be forgiven for dropping :)
Kary - I still remember that trip so clearly. You live in a great bit of California - am jealous now :)
Well you found me!!! so that alone was worth it ;)
