What have I got? What aren't I?

This is the first time I've ever put a Youtube clip on my blog and it's a clip that Mr FF first showed to me a few weeks ago when, for about the hundredth time, I was wandering round the house singing a Killers song.

It's the fabulous Bill Bailey of course and Mr FF on his way to England - I'm thinking of you.

I've been a big Bill Bailey fan since the days of Spaced... top chap!

I love Spaced and it's one of the things we regularly watch here. It gets funnier each time I see it - favourite episde is the one with the rave.

Oh Bill Bailey is soooo funny! I first saw him on the TV show Black Books.

Pretty funny stuff :)
So true, so many lyrics are hair-raisingly banal - even stupid.

He is an ok guy that Bill. He always makes me smile, not laugh but smile!

Ooh - I'm so out of it! Heard of the Killers but not Bill Bailey! Loved the clip...

Hiya Denyse - we used to love Black Books - what happened to good comedies from Channel Four? Where have they gone?

Stone - the one that sets Mr FF off is from another Killers song called 'Human'; it goes like this:

Are we human or are we dancer?

I think there are many websites out there about what does it mean - to have the singular 'dancer'? Me, I just sing along.

Blu - nothing really makes me lol properly - a smile is usually the best I can do. Although Mr FF can make me laugh with his rapping

Phil - Je suis sûre qu'il va rire avec nous

Ladyfi - go on to Youtube for Bill Bailey - there are some very funny clips on there (Asda - I ain't gonna be your bitch, to name one of them)

This is funny!
My daughter's boyfriend wakes her up singing silly songs--this would fit the bill.
We are back in NY.
I just can't give up the India pics yet....
Is it you who knows Karen Cole?

He's funny, (I am off to watch the ASDA clip). I can just hear everyone at V Fest singing the hamster song. H&S add all sorts of (their) bands to my ipod when I am in the UK for a laugh (trying to educate old mum). I am into The Script and Keane right now, love em. Happy Sunday, Kathy.

**Are we human or are we dancer?**

You're kidding, right?!?

Oh yes, Bill Bailey is great isn't he. Loved him in Black Books and God knows what else i've seen him in. A great comedian and a truly talented musician.

er - FF, sweetie - how do you get YouTube on your post thing?

xxxxx

Bill Bailey is great, love him on QI. The killers however, sorry don't know them yet. V boring I know.

Elizabeth - it got me thinking up all sorts of variations - 'I've got spam but I'm not a spammer' was one - in fact we went on and on getting sillier and sillier

I'm not surprised you want to carry on posting the photos from India - they are superb

Mama - I don't know Script but got the first Keane CD when it came out. It's a real effort trying to discover new sounds and not just live in the past. I adore the Killer and will be seeing them at the French festival in July - together with Springsteen also on the bill

Stone - just Google 'what do the lyrics 'are we human or are we dancer' - and you'll see the many many sites about it.

Jen - I knew you'd like BB. As for uploading the vids - see on the right hand side of the Youtube screen is a line with the 'Embed' code c&P it into the links box and hey presto ***

claire - I think you'd enjoy their music - just think Pet Shop Boys/ Duran Duran/ Springsteen/ Smiths - and that is kind of their sound

Ha!
Spaced and Black Books were brilliant.
Safe journey to Mr FF:-)

Bill Bailey? The Killers? Either I'm on the wrong side of the pond or in the wrong age bracket.

Larry M. Brow said...

Okay, you brought him up. Google "Bill Bailey" Chaucer

The Youtube clip it'll offer you is a constant delight. My six year old (happily ignorant of some of its meanings) was quoting, "the donkey, he was not pleased."

Lane - Gavin & Stacey was the last comedy I really enjoyed. I wish Simon Pegg would write another one. I recently got an oldie of his - a series called 'Hippies' which had some good moments.

Rob - No excuse for the Killers - they are from your land of the free - Bill Bailey is a cult comedian/musician that probably a lot of Brits don't even know.

Larry - that clip is superb and I will draw it to Mr FF's attention when he returns. There's lots of BB stuff I've not even seen on Youtube yet.

Great clip.

What about: "I've got a leg but I'm not a legend..."

Bill Bailey shares my birthday (date, not year) AND lives up the road - my lovely ex-colleague Naweed saw him standing in the road once, listing to one side at about the same angle as the Tower of Pisa. Which seemed not at all odd for Bill Bailey.

French Fancy... said...

Dumdad - sorry, that's one we did on the way to our picnic a few weeks ago. We spent the whole 1hr journey thinking up stupid lines (I've got a pimp but I'm not a pimple being my best).

Apparently at a festival last summer the crowd did indeed chant back at the Killers 'I've got ham but I'm not a hamster'. When we see them play in July I reckon it will just be our little group that actually does it - seeing as how the majority will be natives.

Lucy - I've just been checking him out on Wiki and found out he was a classically trained musician. I thought he played the piano and guitar very well - that's me shown then.

It must be quite good having him as a neighbour (yes, in the same street is classed as a neighbour in my book). He seems that he'd be lovely to know (how sucked in my people's stage personality I am).

I love Bill Bailey, going to show this to the hubster, he's a fan too.

I LOVE BILL BAILEY. But after that how can I ever listen to another Killers song without thinking of him???

The Ice Bloggers said...

Also how can I rest now whilst I've got other variations going round in my head?

I've got arms but I'm not an armadillo.

I've got hair but I'm not a hairdresser.

I've got eyes but I'm not an eyelet.

AAAGGGHHH. It's going round and round in my brain.

rtbc - good - I never realised BB was so well known

Henry's mum - yep, it gets you like that -
here's a clip of Robbie doing a snippet

Ah, FF, I have been a huge fan for years of the surreal talent that is Mr Bill Bailey - I saw the Tinselworm tour on his first night in Newcastle - He was fantastic, and I love him dearly - We have Black Books now on DVD, and it is eminently re-watchable - I didn't catch all of Spaced, and so never realised he was in that too...

He made Never Mind The Buzzcocks bearable for years, and I don't watch it now he's doing so much solo stuff so fantastically! Thank you so for helping to 'spread the worm'. xxx

Good to listen to the songs, just like an angel voice.

AWONI - how great to have seen BB live. that's one thing I do miss out here - going to see someone live (that I can understand perfectly)

I don't think he was in Spaced actually - I just agreed with Steve that it was good - nay, superb - because it was. He *should* have been in it - I wonder why he doesn't do stuff with Pegg.

I do sometimes catch Buzzcocks and are able to answer fewer and fewer questions My time has passed :)

skywind - I'm not sure who has the voice of an angel - Bill Bailey - No.

later on in my reply to Henry's mum I put clips from Robbie - No

and The Killers - No, good but not angels

Oh, that guy from the killers is cute!

Bailey played the comic store boss, who fires Tim Bisley over him having a go at a boy for asking for something with Jar Jar Binks in.... ..... I think his character was called Bilbo Bagshot.

French Fancy... said...

Cheryl - It was the music that drew me in but he is a very good showman. Comparisons with Freddie have been drawn.

TAF - if you did all that without googling (and somehow I know you did) I'm impressed.
