Is veri unnecessary ?

I have it on good authority, well marc anyway, that word veri on the blog comment form is not really necessary these days, mainly because Blogger have been doing so much to detect spammers.

I must say that in the two weeks that I have dispensed with verification I've not had anything untoward left in my box as it were. My, isn't the English language strange?

Oh goodness, your blog looks delicious. I've only quickly scanned it, as I have to go to my son's soccer (football?) game. I will wander around a bit more this afternoon.
Thanks for visiting my blog this morning.

Thought I'd drop by and say "hi" back to you :-)

I might have a go at leaving the word verification off then, and see how things turn out.

I only started the word veri thing when about a year ago I received an obscene and quasi-religious comment about a mile long...

trousers - yes, let's all abandon our word veri and make fellow bloggers happy.

dumdad - I see you've lost the black box icon. Do you know something that I should know? And why do i keep ending up on one particular blog about five times a day (you have too much time on your hands, i hear you say)

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Your recipe looks extremely good but I confess I am a much better eater than baker or cook! But I try...

I enjoyed your comment. Yes, there are real crazies here but I suppose every country has their share. I am thinking extremely hard of moving to Vancouver. I really have nothing against the states - though I don't care for the election process - but I find Canada to be very progressive and inviting ... for many reasons!

Take care and stop back again!

Hello! I have arrived here via Cat.....and you got there via Black Box! Black box also takes me to Cat about 1/3 of goes....tho I did know her before! So its all fake I reckon. Anyway. Here I am. I haven't added Black Box cos I am crap at knowing how to do any of that stuff. I need someone to sort out my Blog really.....haven't even managed a Blogroll so far....sigh...
Anyway. Here I am! And will now pop around your blog and see who you are. Am enjoying very much so far.....!

Hmmmm....I am wary of ditching the word veri!! I got loads of spam on past posts, about 40 of them, and had links to where you could meet lovely Thai ladies for 'Fun (aherm) and friendship'. Maybe it was just because I have Thailand in the title of my blog....will think about it....

Russell- glad you stopped by. I realised I might have sounded a bit rude about the USA with the comment I left and I didn't mean for it to come out that why (well, I guess I could have deleted it).

justme- hello. Now if I can add the Black Box than anybody in the world can. I'm not techy at all. But glad you stopped by and I'm coming over later.

carol - at the first sign of spam that veri will be straight back. I suppose the word 'Thailand' does trigger various Bad Things. I won a holiday to Bangkok years ago - ooo, I might blog about that.

I've never figured out how, for example, you link to my blog, but manage to only have "marc" written on your's.
Also I find utube and facebook continually confusing as they each have their own "interface", (I think that is the right word).
Never the less, I hardly watch TV at all anymore and spend hours on the net.

marc - it's easy to do but tricky to explain.

I do this:
TEXT

where the URL is I c&p your URL and where
TEXT is I put the relevant link word, in this case Marc.

You need to have a practice or maybe read Blogger help here;

p.s. I actually c&p'd the html code but it seems to have become the word TEXT.

what you need to read is about halfway down the help page I mentioned in the previous comment.

Thanks for stopping by...I love the black box...so fun to see where you end up. I always try and find a post I connect with to comment on. I choose this one because I have been wondering about that and then today it came to the fore front. My sister who has been anti-blog but just started one...third posting just today...had a spammer as her first comment (on third post). She's going to freak. I don't know what the answer is. Anyway...I'm rambling now and this has become very, very long to say,"Hi" and explain why I posted here.
