Did you think there was just one?

Yes, this is a replica of the Statue of Liberty and is on the N165 road going towards Vannes in Brittany. Wouldn't you think such a beautiful symbol would deserve more salubrious surroundings?

Apparently there are many many replicas of Bartholdi's impressive figure and I bet most of them are in a place more suitable for such a famous image.

We saw a replica of the lovely lady in Singapore recently.
Thanks for the picture of Nash Terrace, it's stunning (I want to live there) I am off to Regents Park this week to take a peek and also little Green St in Kentish town, apparently the only Georgian street left in London.(a cobbled eight foot mews with Georgian houses), so exciting, thanks again, we do seem to have a lot in common, have a wonderful week, speak soon, Kathy.

Hello mama Kathy, I know Kentish Town quite well but I don't know Green Street. Talking of Georgiana, have you been to Dennis Severs House?

p.s. my current OU course covers Georgian times, although it is officially from the Englightenment to the Romantic era. If I find any odd little nuggets of info (and they are the ones I look for) I'll send them your way.

Haha! She does look a little lost there, doesn't she?

Ummmm that is kinda funny that it's just sitting on a...farm? I think a nice island and a pretty platform are more fitting! We sure love the one they presented us with!!!!!

haha, Thank you for your lovely comments and all the Georgian info, I am also sure we would be friends irl, we can be blogger friends for now. We often go to Paris (my other half goes to business meetings) and I wander around the museums and art galleries oh and the little chocolate shop/cafe opposite the Louvre, usually on my own, next time you can be my guide, good luck with your OU course it sounds really interesting and yes please pass on any little gems, I just hope this rain stops soon so I can get to Regents Park, Little Green Street is off Highgate Road, (I do not know that area well) it is under threat from developers trying to tarmac the cobbled street for truck access to their nearby building site, crazy!! I am off to check out Dennis Severs House, Kathy

This is gonna make you laugh, I actually lived in Bethnal Green for a while and worked in "Frying Pan Alley" (just around the corner from Spitafields and minutes from Dennis Severs House!!! and I never knew it existed. I have just booked the tour for myself and my son and daughter for our "last day I will be in London outing" it looks excellent, thank you for letting me know about it, I can see I have an awful lot of Georgian stuff to learn about. Kathy.

willow - I've seen another one in Brittany as well but do not have a photo. It's in the centre of quite a pretty town called Gourin. I'll make it my mission this week to seek it out and photo it. She deserves it!

nikki - going to Ellis Island and passing the statue is one of my lasting memories of NY. I loved NY and want to go back

mama - if I was your guide around Paris we would just be lost all the time. I don't know the city very well at all. I know where Little Green Street is now - looked at my old A-Z. Enjoy Dennis Severs House - I went there years ago and it was fantastic. I love Spitalfields and a fiction book I love is set there - the House of Doctor Dee by Peter Ackroyd (who lives in Kentish Town coincidentally)

I must say that all you bloggers are so lovely. I wish i could meet you all face to face.

She sure looks very pale and lonely there... I always thought she looked like she was holding a giant ice cream, and so maybe it melted.

Wow! I've never seen a replica, but when I came on this site I was shocked to see it in like a gargage looking place... Wow!

blu - doesn't she look out of place? I've never seen this one but the one at Gourin at least is in prettier surroundings. They should be ashamed of themselves dumping her there. Vannes is so lovely - I can think of many squares she wouldbe perfect in.

veronda - yes, it's shocking she is in such a dump. I must admit that when I sailed towards the real thing I got quite emotional - well as emotional as someone can be click click clicking away on the camera.

I live in Brooklyn, NY and see Miss Liberty in the harbor all the time, but I am glad to know that her facsimile is in other countries as a reminder to how we all cherish freedom.

pat - I envy you. I only went on a short trip to NY but I adored it there. Mind you, I was on holiday. When I think how often people wax lyrical about London and yet I don't have the London-love much any more, despite many years of living there.

carol - there must be replicas all over the place. Goodness, imagine seeing replicas of Big Ben everywhere - I think I might feel a bit miffed.

Dennis Severs house is a must-see place.
